what do you guys tune your amp with

I have a dd1 and in the past I used a -7 40hz tone to tune my amp and I blew a sub listening to stuff like DJ Slow N Throw and Decaf. I'm fixing to get new subs and I wanna know what you guys use. I just now tuned it with a -5 tone, I'm thinking this will be fine? What do DJ Slow n Throw songs peak at?
