a couple of friends and i are going to undergo a project stemming from mid july until april or somewhere about that time, in re constructing an astro van into a spl vehicle.

1 of us is a professional installed while the other 2 are just self installers and do things for other friends.

now were thinking

AMPS:

4 - (Hifonics XX-Colossus II 3200rms @ 2ohm mono)

or

2 - (Hifonics XX-Maxximus /Hybrid monoblock 10,000rms @2ohm mono)

SUBS:

2 - (18" Kicker Solo X)

BATTERYS:

8 - (yellowtop gel 1125 CCA)

the solos will be tuned to 56hz possible fiberglass enclosure

eveything else is still in the works but were looking at putting in 2500$ per person, and whoever pays for what they put in they take home after were done with it.

he says it will be close to 170 db how do you guys feel about that

the professional installer has, and he has trophys and what not i never bothered to look at them to see what for. but he wasnt making enough money in the shop so he got a different job now with his kid being born. but he has been involved so i guess thats a yes?

well we dont got the 2500 a piece right now thats why we said until april for finish date. but im only 18 hes a few years older and his friends around the same age. were just trying to get our feet wet here.

hey if you guys want to do it, well then do it, equipment listed seems good for the application, maybe you should just do some more research before you make your decision if you are unsure.

not that im unsure just need people whove heard 170 db's to clarify, i know theres no way to tell but just an assumption. ive only heard 163.1 and i know it was a far cry from 150 that i heard before that.

170 does seem a bit too high, but no doubt, itll be LOUD

i never heard 170 so im not sure but maybe he knows something about making it louder i dont know yet or he hasnt told me. hes doing most of the planning since hes got experience.

The only 2 sub setup I've personally seen do a 170+ was in a tiny little suzuki Sidekick thing. Full plexiglass and the doors were clamped shut. It used 2 MTX RFL's, don't remember offhand how much power. It metered at ~171.XX. With a stock glass astrovan, I don't really see 170 happening with 2 18s. That's a very loud number.
