I have a 01 tahoe with a 130 amp alt, i plan on getting 2 15 l7s and powering them with a hifonics colouss xx 1100 X 2 @ 2 ohm. Then Replacing factory speakers with 2 pairs of Kicker 75 rms 6.5" speakers and i would power them with another hifonics amp giving them 85 x 4 @ 4 ohm. Now thats about 2600 watts. Now i need to know what do i have to do power all this so i dont have dimming or anything. Im not going to be listening to the system with the ngine off. Would i need a extra battery i heard there only good for listening to system with car turned off. thanks any help appreciated..

Without hooking it up and giving it a try at the level you typically listen before you do any upgrades and see what happens with your voltages, it's hard to tell what you need. Do the "big 3" reagrdless. From there add another battery if you still have problems. From there an alt.

For any of the above to make its full impact, the wiring to the amps needs to be as good as possible, both power and ground. 2/0 from the front to the rear is not overkill. From a distro you can go 1/0 to the Colossus and 4 ga to the oher amp. Do the same for the ground all the way back to the battery. If you run a rear battery, the battery terminals can act as your distro with and inline fuse on each wire coming from it.

Good advices. Honestly 2600w with 130amp alt is really pushing it. You are not going to get full power out of your amp when you really crank it up. Big 3 is a must in any case. Been there done that... Just get a bigger alt. They are not too pricey for american vehicles.

I was at a local shop and the guy there said there are no H/O alt and the ones there are dont work, and he said only way to get bigger alt is to buy another stock one and run dual alts. So basicaly he said just to get hc2400 battery and a 3 farad cap , but i can only play system for like 2 tracks then i have to turn it down and let everything cool off. Is he correct.... Also i will do the big 3.

don't listen to him any more. He trying to SELL you stuff.

Do your big 3 and you should be fine,I have the same GM system with slightly

more watts and I only dimm when I play massive bass...for everyday listining its enough to get by with just a 4ga Big3

I own a brand new Irraggi 260A alt and I havent installed it yet, mainly because I havent needed too

thanks for all your replies,,,,Yea i was gonna get a irragi but this guy kept saying like it wouldnt work that it needs to be liquid cooled and for that it would need to be built in the engine block or something. So wat if i got a 240 amp iraggi with the big 3 upgrade should i be fine or do i need to get a batter the in rear?

car on = alt power first, then if you exceed your alt rating...battery

car off = BATTS ONLY

tell 'that guy' to show you a picture of a water cooled built-in alt. I know I'd like to see it.

I'm a fan of a secondary AGM battery. Isolator or not is up to you.

Yea i been to those sites i think iraggi has the best prices i was just wondering if a 240 amp would last a long time not like 6 months or something.
