What crossovers/processors do you guys use?

Running an AudioControl DQX and it is a solid unit. I also have a 6xs in my other car and it is doing an excellent job as well. I like both of these units because in addition to their x-over abilities, they both have very good line drivers built in so I can step up the signal at the processor and keep my gains pretty low.

I also have zero noise in my cars. Not sure if this is mostly due to the processors or my RCA's (Stinger Experts), but it all comes together with no engine noises, pops, or whines.

Used to have an MTX RT-X03 and a US Amps US-X3 along with various trunk mounted EQ's, but going to the DQX gives me the fully adjustable 3-way x-over along with plenty of eq bands with a line driver all in one unit. The US Amps unit was very nice in it's own right and is an excellent performer as a line driver and x-over. If it had eq capabilities, I'd still have it.

DQX is a little out of my price range. I also don't need the 6xs, as I only have two amps. What excatly do the line drivers do? Does it just give you more capabilities to keep your gain low? I already have 5volt deck and the highest I go on it is 40-62.

I think I will try the cheap way first, since I have a deck to go active with. Just need to install my componet set after I deaden the doors and then have at it.

Also you guys think going with the 880 as my processor will sound better than using my Lanzar? I know it is all where you set your points, and I am sure that is where I will get lost.

It really depends on how the Lanzar was setup if it will sound differently. The only way a unit will sound bad is if it was made with pretty crappy components. As soon as you get above a certain point for component quality and manufacturing tolerances, they all sound the same.

Also, an inline driver boosts your pre-out voltage. Some people use them with headunits with 2v pre-outs to boost the signal up to like 7v. All it really does is allow you to lower the gain on your amps. I have easily set my gain with 2v pre-outs on my Opti2000D to ~25%.

Got ya, so next question, is it really worth it to go through the hassle of going active then? I mean I have the external crossover and I have switched out external crossovers and noticed a difference, but never tried just active.

I don't need an inline boost then. Deck is already 5v.

Going active gives you more control over each speaker and will give each speaker more power than running a 4ch. amp bridged or a 2ch. amp through a passive network. I think you have less worry about having noise issues if you keep it as simple as possible.

Well noise is deffintley and issue as well, which I am working on as well because recently deadened my car and took everything out and then reinstalled and viola, god dam engine noise out the yahoo! I think I may have blown the fuse in the deck and need to ground the rca's. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif
