Featured What connector do I need?

Hello. I have just bought a cable adapter for a neu ràdio (second hand), and surprisingly I discover it doesn't fit. It is almost exactly as the female connector on the radio, but not the same.

I tried to find a list with images of the connectors existing but didn't find it.

Can you help me with this?

Thanks

It sounds like you're having trouble with a connector for your car radio. If you can share more details about the radio and adapter, I may be able to help you identify the issue.

This is the closest match I can find. From experience I know most radio harnesses cover the fuse with a built in tab. Next to the tab are the power pins which are thicker than the rest and this matches your radio's snap and fuse location.

You may have to grind a fitment tab or two.

The radio is a Sony DSX410BT. I have just tried another adapter I bought and also doesn't fit.

Thanks for your interest! Is that option of grinding tab a good one? It seems to me that it may end with the radio or some electronics burnt up.

I now searched for a cable which is specifically for Sony radios. With current experience, I took a closer look at both male and female connectors and that it is possible that fits.

Never thought that those connectors weren't standard. That's unbelievable.

Valid concern. Therefore I recommend scrutinizing wire color codes before modifying a harness. I have noticed a standard among American radio harnesses whether they fit or not. As for Android radios I have not had enough experience with them to know if the ISO standard applies across the board.

I hope you succeed this round.

That is the thing; the color placement in the slots seems standard to me. It is the connector's propietary shapes that make it difficult.
