Hopefully looking to throw a sub in my car soon. Everyone keeps telling me I need to so I guess that's the route to take.

Pretty set on this sub and I have some woodworking experience so I am going to build my own ported box. I had an Infinity sub before and I liked the way it sounded.

Infinity 1260w Reference Series 12" 4-ohm subwoofer at Crutchfield.com

Found it cheaper ($62 shipped) just using CF because of the great site layout.

What is the best budget amp I could get to power it? Not looking to spend more than $150

Do you know how to model a sub so as to get the correct tuning in a ported enclosure?
Well the last box I built was to factory spec's for cubic feet and it turned out fine. It was a 10 in cappa in a ported box. Beyond that not sure what you are talking about.

How did you make the port? Did you just randomly throw a port on their and call it a day? That's not how you design a ported box...

That's well and good for a sealed enclosure, not for ported. You can't just build a ported enclosure by size, you have to calculate port width, length, etc to the correct tuning to match your subs specs. A lot more involved in designing a ported enclosure, you don't just put a random sized port tube or vent.

I just stuck a piece of PVC I had laying around in for the port. Would it be better to buy something then? If so do you have a link from amazon or similar?

Old school amps, Id look at a line of Zed @4ohms mono,or 2ch to bridge @4ohms ,Hifonics VII VIII series 2ch..like a Vulcan,Odin, mono like a Cyclops, amps,USA US Acoustics USA Series II,or USX series, like the 2100,2150,2200,USX like the 800,some are inexpensive than the new amps, and deliver some real power,JBL,PPI,Orion,Even like an Alpine DUO-b 3525/3523@4ohms are pretty awesome.I had that little 3525 pushing 4 400rms SVC 10in StillWater Kickers @4ohms bridged and made my chest move in sealed enclosures.New, I like the SoundStreams, you can find a refurbished one pretty cheap, and with like a 3yr.warranty, verses brand new with a one yr. warranty. And if you add another sub,2ohms is way to go with that soundstream, and that Cyclops if you can get one,is BA @4,or 2ohms bar nun.I recommend the Cyclops VII,VIII by Hifonics,if you can find one on eBay,but wouldnt pay over $150 shipped, but well worth every penny.Says 100watts, but will push more over the 500rms range..and thats allll day long

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif Oh man. Do not buy a prefab ported box, they need to be designed properly for the sub that will be going in them. There's many guys here that design and build them, look in the enclosure section.

That SVC 4 ohm 12in you pictured is only a 300rms sub, and I recommend going sealed with approx. the 1.6 with 3/4 mdf,or ported with a minimum of 1.8 with at least 1-3in port. The only prefab box that sounds decent in my opinion is a Pro bass box, even the money spent on that will only give you min. performance, and the cost of,you can get someone on here to build you one that will last, and be able to get the performance out of that sub, shipped. You may even be able to get someone to design one for you, and get a cut sheet to build yourself, and learn at the same time?Just some suggestions for the sub.But as for the amp in question for the money...That Cyclops will be a great amp, and will bang that sub pretty hard! I have had one on a pair of 1000rms 10s and will be putting 2 in soon on 4 subs 1 for each set.Great amp@113db!!
