What brands to look for Subs for Sound quality?

Im starting to plan a future build, because of where i live i have very limited options to audition, so i relay a lot into what others can vouch. Atm im looking for what brands/series should i look for the best sound quality audiophile grade subs, not interested on high SPL or loudness, more into having an accurate reproduction of the lower end.

A lot of people like JL Audio. I've always thought they were a bit overrated for the price.

Ssa subs and image dynamics. Hands down the best sq for the money.

Boston acoustic g5s as well.

Alpine type rs are supposed to be decent.

+1 for SSA. I've only had their higher end subs which I was aiming to get loud, which they do very easily, but one of their lower level speakers sealed would do nice. The ascendant audio havoc is a promising SQ driver

Keep an eye out for Dynaudio, Audiofrog, Illusion, Audison and Jbl gti. It all depends on the install tho.

I have heard nothing but good things about SSA. especially the ICON for sound quality. Also you can never go wrong with a sundown.

Anything that you install right. There is not a brand that's better. People don't design speakers to sound like crap.

The sundown sd3 8's have been known to sound good. Alomg with the alpine type r 8s. Realm subwoofers are good sounding. A good pick is DD 1000,2000,3000 series....

More importantly.... How much space are you willing to give up and how much power are you going to run?

Don't you already own JL? Aren't you working with small sealed box? I don't believe just dropping a different sub in your current box/location will make any dramatic difference for you.

Tell us what you feel can be improved and let's think of some things you can try that don't involve throwing more equipment at it.

Hi hispls, yes your right im running JL Sub on my truck, the build is finished and all working great. This is is for new build, Fiat 500 Abarth that im starting to plan, im probably going to be removing the backseat and do custom sub / amp rack. The idea of this thread was to open more my search into high sound quality subs to research for this build.
Thanks again for all others that have replied to the thread, you guys have given me a lot to research.
