I currently have 4 18 zv3 18's would it be worth it to upgrade to hdc4's or I was considering ssa evils. Or would I not notice a huge different and should upgrade to say a lvl 6 or psi platform 5's, power is currently 1 taramp 10k going to get a 2nd 10k with upgrade. This is a non wall ported enclosure 6.25 cubic ft per driver tuned to 32hz

How do I post pic so can get a better idea of the setup
Easiest to upload to an image hosting site then post the links here within IMG tags.

I don't know what you're planning to accomplish with this "upgrade". Zv3 is a pretty robust platform and if power handling is an issue you can simply rebuild them with NSv3 coils and/or red spider packs. If this is for burps whether you gain switching subs will be a matter of luck and if it's for the sake of playing music, as I said, NSv3 coil should hang with most 4" 4 layers as far as thermal power handling.

It's currently at a 152 sealed on the dash with 1 hd10k at 2 ohm and it's a 1 ohm model. I'm gonna get a 2nd hd 10k for now I was hoping that will increase a lot with both amps at 1 ohm. Box is tuned at 32hz it's a musical setup. The woofers don't get warm at all as of right now just not sure how it's gonna be when I add the 2nd 10k and there both at 1 ohm. The end goal was to probley have 4 hd10k's, so u think just a coil and spider pack upgrade would be sufficient?

NOTHING is going to hang with 10K for very long at all. Though I know the Nightshade V3 coil fits the zv3 motor and holds close to double the thermal power of the Z coil. I think tuned so low you won't be close to mechanical limits on an 18 but if you wind up in trouble step up to the red spiders. They are much stiffer than that Z spider pack.

If you attempt to run 40KW you'd be far better off trying to use more smaller subs (10 12's or 6 15's) for any hope of holding that much power for any length of time beyond burp.

That all said, some LV6, Evil, or TEAM type subs would probably hold more power but all things equal I don't think you'd get much of a difference on the meter unless you were just lucky and that would be significantly more expensive than just rebuilding the Z's which again IMO is a pretty solid platform.

Oh, and if you're near NYC, you might try to hook up with Andre from the Bronx, he can hook you up with B2 and some big boy custom made stuff. I can vouch that he builds solid subs and you can save a pile on shipping 100 pound subs if he's local to you.

i think that two zv3 18s on a 10k will be fine. doug was doing an 8k per in a smaller box. with 4 10ks i would do as hispl suggested and uses more subs. with more subs you have more thermal handling and added motor force for output.

Yea I just finished building the enclosure is super solid, I don't play songs for more then 30 seconds most of the time so I don't think it would be to bad I was just thinking with all the extra motor force I would hope to gain at least 1-2db on swapping out? Also Andre who I'm not far from the Bronx

If you are at 2ohm thats not a bad score esp for that low a tuning. Id say try another 10k and see how they like it. Im sure if you set the gain correctly it will get a ton louder be very dynamic and lf you are careful they will hold up

What car is it in? 152 for 4 18s is kinda low but its not bad if its not super peaky.Where is it peaking and how peaky is it above and below the peak?
It's in a 2007 Tahoe. It's 152 sealed up on music and was just going of my "loudest song" it was on the ssa meter didn't find peak yet. Going to get it on a TL When I add the 2nd 10k it's not pesky at all very musical can play 25-55hz

U either have crazy rise and not making power or your box is wrong. Score should be up there. What's your electrical like?

I can't pronounce or spell his actual name (he is from Hungary) but he goes by Andre so that Americans can pronounce it. Like I said, he's a good guy and very passionate about car audio, hoarding old school gear, and building monster subs.

This is him^

AFAIK he is also one of the few folks that can get OEM Sundown parts these days so he could also probably hook you up if you wanted to just rebuild those Zv3 motors with some chunkier coils.
