red tops arent warrantied for any car audio useautozone only upholds the 1 year free replacement on yellowtops
it's 1 year free replacement, and 2 years after that, but you pay useage fees.
red tops have 3 year free replacement
car audio cuts the life span down quite a bit...think of it this way if it wasnt a big deal the WHY wouldnt they warranty it??? after the second time you swap it i bet they start asking questions....i only went through 2 reds and a yellow in a pretty short period of time .... but thats when optima was pretty much all you had. second time i brought my red top in they hooked it up to a battery checker and it was dead as heck. they were not going to replace it either way because he said was either the alt not working or abuse...wal mart probably doesnt care but just on princaple why get a battery that sucks for audio? alot of people on alot of forums say red tops are used in comp cars (i havent seen 1 at db drag finals in 3 trips) and by 98 noone was using them any more in sq...... if they use optima its all yellow or blue tops...but also probably due to popularity they are also the most hated battery among sound off vets....how would they know?
do you carry them in and say "hi, i was using these for car audio, and they stopped working?"
get real here, just keep your mouth shut, get your new battery handed to you, and walk out the door
and in my experience red tops are GREAT batteries. my red top has outlasted two yellow tops, both of which batteries i bought two summers ago.
My yellow top died the first time last winter, which was replaced for free, and then died again during this summer, and when they told me there was a replacement charge (which was like $90, btw) i told them to keep it.
My red top hasn't failed me yet.
Anyone who doesn't need deep-cycle functionality should go with the red, hands down.
don't worry, im getting a yellow topYou'll learn to listen to me soon. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
