hi guys,

whats good in the doors ? also must be 4 ohms . as i only want 2 and i want to wire them to 2 ohm load.

im looking at the 8" mid-bass ( must be mid-bass ) as i have 6 mid range speakers .

was looking at these...

PRV Audio 8MB450-4 8 Inch 4 ohm Mid Bass - SSA STORE

and thats about the price im looking for. maybe a little more.

but must be good on doors.

i just fell im missing some mid-bass thats why im looking for some 8"

was thinking 10" mid-bass but that a little to big. would have to cut my doors up .

The PRV and Faital are not true midbass speakers and I wouldn't run them in a 3way set up.

Dayton RS225 or Silver Flute is what I'd be looking at. Also realize it will take a lot of work on your doors to get a lot of midbass out of any speaker...

what needs to be done to the doors ??

im up for the challenge.. but not sure what needs to be done. thanks.

if i get a 8 ohm speaker is there anyway it lower the ohm load ? something i put on the terminal ?

as im looking at the dayton but its 8ohm. i could wire 2 up that will give me only 4ohm.

im trying to wire both to 2 ohm.

deadener on both inside and outside of the doorskins, baffles to seal the speaker to the door tightly and fiberglass insulation in the door can clean the sound up as well, in the large hallow sections of the door. You'll want the fiberglass that is prewrapped in plastic, you can find it at most hardware stores.

Between the two you linked get the faital pro. It's rated lower in power, but PRV overrated. Even a high end pro audio speaker with a 2inch coil is 200 watts RMS in most cases, PRV isn't high end so 225 is a pipe dream. Secondly, the Faital has more xmax and more sensitivity. The PRV is "rated" at 96db, but it's at 2.83v, which is really 2 watts since it's a 4ohm speaker. It's truly only 93db and it's probably overrated at that, the QES on that woofer is really high, over 1 that means it has a very weak motor which generally means low effeciency. The Faital pro is a lighter cone with a stronger motor and more xmax.. Plus every install I've heard PRV speakers in has NOT impressed me. They didn't sound good or get that loud.

Anyway what MLSTRASS is trying to say, I think is that if he is "missing midbass" if it happens to be that lower range between 60-80hz, he may be better served not using pro audio drivers. Something with a lower effeciency, but more xmax might fill in that range a little easier, which is true. If you can run 2 sets exodus audio 6.5s woudl be a good fit. They aren't an 8, but have more xmax than most 8's so it somewhat balances out and they are a bit oversiszed, more like a 7 anyways. 2 in each door would get you down to 50hz with authority, if your doors could handle them.

Prv's aren't midbass? Hmmm. Those Flutes look pretty cool....ported.

thanks very much, good info. and your right it seems like im missing some higher bass ( midbass ) and trying to get a good fill. thats why im wanting to go 3-way front stage. but i dont want to replace what i already have. im very happy with the sq pro 6.5 and comp tweeters. what im running right now is in my sig. but going to get another set of tweeters.

so im trying to find what would be good in my truck/doors and thats 4ohms as i want to run 2 at 2 ohms. that has good xmas the more the better,, good power handling . something that can take 200 to 250rms . thats what my amp puts out at 2 ohms.

also needs to be shallow as my doors are not BIG as i like my windows down.

anyway i think you guys know what im looking for, i just have no idea what would be good for me.

also was thinking from 70-80hz to ???
