What a...

Pre- 1913 (the time of interest bearing fiat money) we seemd to be able to pay all our bills with just import tarrifs. I understand we can't compete with slave labor, but I do a load of business overseas and the thing EVERYONE asks me is "please declare a low value so I don't get hit with taxes". I have never had to pay dime one on anything sent to me. I send a package to Brazil for example and they have to pay the entire cost of shipping plus 50% of the declared value! How about we just tarrif imports at the same rate our exports are taxed to each country?.
IMHO "globalism" is a total pipe dream. I guarantee our standard of living will be that of the average Chinese or Bangladesh peasant long before theirs reaches the current standard of living of our "poor" (90% of which own a big screen TV and have cable, over 60% of which own a car). It is nice to have some global trade, but we really need to look out for #1 first and formost.

If Mr. Marx doesn't take graduate level economics and actually do quite a bit of his own research he will never ever learn how money works. In fact I've actually sat in some graduate level economics where a lot of misinformation was being thrown about. About the only thing I got of value from that whole thing was learning how to actually go out and educate myself.
I agree completely with protective tariffs. To bring manufacturing back into the US it needs to be profitable again. One way is reversing all the significant quality of life advancements made this past century you mentioned (which, by the way, you can thank socialism/government for) and reducing it to that of a third world country or we can find some progressive solution. You want me to say something bad about Democrats? NAFTA was horrible. Of course, it was a plan made by Republicans, but Clinton still signed it. Also, I cringe whenever I hear Obama talking about free trade deals.

And if I didn't want to go into Architecture so much, I would pursue a degree in economics and go into politics. The creation of money is definitely something that interests me and I'd love to know more about it. Unfortunately there is only so much time and money available for me so I can't take classes for 6 degrees.

If you're not afraid me of audioholic, this is a pretty simply question to answer.
I dont know. But I know its there. Tell me, what is worse, assuming we need to clean up our spending waste before demanding more money from tax payers, or assuming our waste is negligible so just demanding more money from the tax payers? This is a two sided coin, I say we need to clean up spending waste, you say we dont. So its fair to ask you the same question, how much of our debt is waste? *waits for you to reply with "an insignificant amount... because I say so"*.

Yes, Im terrified of you. lol

Yeah, bullshit. You like have a "good" debate as long was you agree with each other 95%. Like what you said to hispls. "Yeah, I agree with everything you said except this one part". That is the only debate you think is good. I've seen it over the years. Anyone who disagrees with you entirely? Just an idiot who should just be indulged until it eventually gets "boring".
Im not 'debating' with hispls, genius. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif And again, if you weren't so thick headed, you'd realize you and I dont 'disagree entirely'. I hope that college you are attending starts to sink in at some point.

I quoted what you said, its there for everyone to read for themselves. Nice try.
Saying it isn't that much of a stretch to say that you're against welfare isn't the same thing as saying you are against it. Period. My point is it's not exactly your favorite social program, is it? Maybe I'm wrong, and if so tell me, instead of this bullshit childish bickering you rely on to distract from having an actual conversation about facts instead of nit picking every god damn thing I say. You act like such an enlightened, objective beacon of intelligence but when it comes down to it, you're one step above AlterEgo or whatever his name used to be. You're childish, petty and dishonest.

On the topic of goverment waste I wonder if anyone ever found that 2.3 TRILLION that went missing over at the Pentagon just before sept 11, 2001

^^^^ This is the benevolent government that is going to solve all our problems //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

The main problem with collectivism/stateism is that it totally ignores human nature. Until humans evolve to a higher level of spiritual consciousness it will never ever work in practice.

A good book on the subject of money creation and fiat currency is "Secrets of the Federal Reserve" by Eustace Mullins. The movie "the money masters" is pretty much the cliffnote version and can be viewed for free on youtube. Both are particularly well researched and doccumented.

Waste exists. I've said it a billion times before here. However, there is no reason to assume it is a significant portion of your debt or deficit. There is no evidence to say there is. And thus, in the same vein as me not believing in a flying spaghetti monster in the sky, I don't think it's a large portion of our spending. Is it a problem? Absolutely. Could we save a few billion if we eliminated real, legitimate waste? Most likely. However, you're worried about a cut on your shoulder when an alligator is biting your leg off.

Again with the nit picking. You did respond to one of his posts, didn't you? You did state a disagreement?

And again, if you weren't so thick headed, you'd realize you and I dont 'disagree entirely'. I hope that college you are attending starts to sink in at some point.
I'd say we disagree with you pretty significantly. Again, constant nit picking every fucking word. It's not me that prevents us from having an adult conversation.

You're childish, petty and dishonest.
Even your attempt at distracting from the fact you're afraid to even engage me a little is fill with dishonesty.
According to you, Im afraid of you, petty, childish, and lying. Apparently none of that contributes to our ability to have an adult conversation.

Again, constant nit picking every fucking word.
Saying it isn't that much of a stretch to say that you're against welfare isn't the same thing as saying you are against it.
You did respond to one of his posts, didn't you? You did state a disagreement?
Its funny how Im the one nitpicking "every fucking word" you say, when you dance around the fact that you said I was against welfare, and then claimed you didnt mean it that way. And then you "nit pick" whether or not Im was "debating" hispls.

Let me be very clear, so as to not be nit picked, or accused of being nit picky... you are a hypocrite. Blunt enough? lol

Could we save a few billion if we eliminated real, legitimate waste? Most likely. However, you're worried about a cut on your shoulder when an alligator is biting your leg off.
you rely on to distract from having an actual conversation about facts
a few billion
an actual conversation about facts
To quote a good movie, your hypocrisy knows no bounds. You demand facts, and specifics beyond my own personal experience, when you provide no facts beyond your "most likely" opinion, and have zero personal experience with govt waste. Is this the sort of double standard rhetoric Im supposedly afraid of? lol

It's not me that prevents us from having an adult conversation.
Saying it isn't that much of a stretch to say that you're against welfare isn't the same thing as saying you are against it.
No, its not you that prevents us from having an adult conversation, its the gremlin living in your keyboard that constantly contradicts things you've said using your own login information and posing as you. lol

Im not calling you an idiot Prox, Im just saying its not much of a stretch to call you an idiot.

Here is just a drop in the bucket of the money the goverment has wasted.....
#1 A total of $3 million has been granted to researchers at the University of California at Irvine so that they can play video games such as World of Warcraft. The goal of this “video game research” is reportedly to study how “emerging forms of communication, including multiplayer computer games and online virtual worlds such as World of Warcraft and Second Life can help organizations collaborate and compete more effectively in the global marketplace.”

#2 The U.S. Department of Agriculture gave the University of New Hampshire $700,000 this year to study methane gas emissions from dairy cows.

#3 $615,000 was given to the University of California at Santa Cruz to digitize photos, T-shirts and concert tickets belonging to the Grateful Dead.

#4 A professor at Stanford University received $239,100 to study how Americans use the Internet to find love.

#5 The National Science Foundation spent $216,000 to study whether or not politicians “gain or lose support by taking ambiguous positions.”

#6 The National Institutes of Health spent approximately $442,340 to study the behavior of male prostitutes in Vietnam.

#7 Approximately $1 million of U.S. taxpayer money was used to create poetry for the Little Rock, New Orleans, Milwaukee and Chicago zoos. The goal of the “poetry” is to help raise awareness on environmental issues.

#8 The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs spent $175 million during 2010 to maintain hundreds of buildings that it does not even use. This includes a pink, octagonal monkey house in the city of Dayton, Ohio.

#9 $1.8 million of U.S. taxpayer dollars went for a “museum of neon signs” in Las Vegas, Nevada.

#10 $35 million was reportedly paid out by Medicare to 118 “phantom” medical clinics that never even existed.

#11 The Conservation Commission of Monkton, Vermont got $150,000 from the federal government to construct a “critter crossing”.

#12 In California, one park received $440,000 in federal funds to perform “green energy upgrades” on a building that has not been used for a decade.

#13 $440,955 was spent this past year on an office for former Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert.

#14 One Tennessee library was given $5,000 in federal funds to host a series of video game parties.

#15 The U.S. Census Bureau spent $2.5 million on a television commercial during the Super Bowl that was so poorly produced that virtually nobody understood what is was trying to say.

#16 A professor at Dartmouth University received $137,530 to create a “recession-themed” video game entitled “Layoff”.

#17 The National Science Foundation gave the Minnesota Zoo over $600,000 so that they could develop an online video game called “Wolfquest”.

#18 A pizzeria in Iowa was given $60,000 to renovate the pizzeria’s facade and give it a more “inviting feel”.

#19 The U.S. Department of Agriculture gave one enterprising group of farmers $30,000 to develop a tourist-friendly database of farms that host guests for overnight “haycations”.

#20 National Institutes of Health was given $800,000 in “stimulus funds” to study the impact of a “genital-washing program” on men in South Africa.

#21 Washington spends $92 billion on corporate welfare (excluding TARP) versus $71 billion on homeland security.

#22 Washington will spend $2.6 million training Chinese prostitutes to drink more responsibly on the job.

#23 The Securities and Exchange Commission spent $3.9 million rearranging desks and offices at its Washington, D.C., headquarters.

#24 The Pentagon recently spent $998,798 shipping two 19-cent washers from South Carolina to Texas and $293,451 sending an 89-cent washer from South Carolina to Florida.

#25 The refusal of many federal employees to fly coach costs taxpayers $146 million annually in flight upgrades.

#26 More than $13 billion in Iraq aid has been classified as wasted or stolen. Another $7.8 billion cannot be accounted for.

#27 Homeland Security employee purchases include 63-inch plasma TVs, iPods, and $230 for a beer brewing kit.

#28 Lawmakers diverted $13 million from Hurricane Katrina relief spending to build a museum celebrating the Army Corps of Engineers — the agency partially responsible for the failed levees that flooded New Orleans.

#29 Washington recently spent $1.8 million to help build a private golf course in Atlanta, Georgia.

Iam sure this could be spent much better.......
Yep, looks like a "few billion" to me. Good call Prox.

And that list is merely an example of the waste we know of. But of course, your superhuman common sense is proof its only a "few billion" total, so we dont need to address the spending problems, just demand someone other than yourself pay more.

Again, its easy to sit in your govt subsidized housing/dorm, with your govt funded school books, for your govt funded classes, to get your govt funded education, and preach that other people need to pay more, to be 'fair'. You are a selfish, self centered, self-unaware person.

Has the govt paid for you to take that economics class yet? Yeah, that's what I thought. You talk big about me being afraid to address your points, yet you dodge the fact that you yourself are ******* off the govt tit for your own personal gain. You dodge the fact that you demand facts, proof, and specificity, when you yourself provide vague and uneducated opinions. But even all this rhetoric isn't what makes you so boring to debate. What makes you so boring to debate is the dishonesty of your position. Dishonesty that wont allow you to admit your hypocritical living arrangement/education. Dishonesty that wont allow you to admit you apply a double standard to what I and others must provide (facts, proof, specificity) while you simply provide opinion (A "few billion"). Dishonesty that wont allow you to admit you did in fact claim, by sheer assumption and a lack of reading comprehension, that Im against welfare. Ive said it before, and apparently I have to say it again, you use the three D's of dodgeball as your debating tactics: dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge.

I keep wanting to believe you are fairly intelligent, and Ive even said so here and previously, because you at least have good communication skills. But then you always seem to let me down by not using that good communication skill to derive a logical point, hold a topic, comprehend meaning from others, or remain sincere. Just when I think my respect for you could get no lower, you revert back to your same old games and remind me why I get bored with going in circles with you over the same material thread after thread after thread.
