Got it. Just wanted to make sure everyone was on the same page.
Either way, it is a fucked up situation though. Those people 'taking', aren't 'giving' their fair share, and that seems to be acceptable these days for some reason.
Oh I agree that more people should pay in, and less people should rely on the govt to support them. That's the heart of my conservative stance economically. We have multiple generations of welfare families these days, parents literally training their kids to 'play the system' so they dont have to work (or work much). I bet we all know at least one person like this. Its pathetic.
But like Ive said all along, if we were talking about a business, family, or individual... when money is tight, the most logical first step is to streamline your spending habits, which DC seems terrified to tackle in any meaningful way. Congress seems to think our economy is so vast, that its a bottomless well from which to draw revenue. Even while we are in such a large economic slump. But they are very good at getting Americans to bicker back and forth about who isn't paying enough, or who is paying too much, to really concentrate our anger on who is spending too much: them, Congress.
Look at the discussions about cutting spending. If social security is mentioned, they take the stance its either all or nothing (gut social security, remove social security, etc). God forbid they get real and talk about making social security a more financially responsible program, instead of trying to scare us by suggesting if we even touch it, its to kill the program(s) altogether. Republicans want 'death panels' to let your grandmother die, democrats want to pass out money in the ghettos, both sides argue false extremes to demonize their opponents. False extremes that lead to polarization of the population, instead of realistic discussions that move us forward and make real progress. Again, its pathetic.
