What 6.5 mid is best for low end bass?

Have you done any door treatments? I'm not talking about 20lbs of deadener in the door, but at least covered the holes in the door panels? Without that, you're wasting your time.

If you don't mind shitty output from a 6.5" above about 1.7khz, then the Peerless SLS 6.5 is about as good as it gets for midbass duty on a budget, the trade off is shitty upper end extension.

Deadener isn't going to do squat if the front and back waves of the speaker aren't separated, or at least separated for the most part.

theres really not many holes in the door of an escort. it has foam blocks in the big holes and any other hols for like screws and stuff that arnt filled ill tag a peice of deadner over them . there will be seperation though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

i was looking at a couple on parts express and would like some nice low mid bass woofers for my front stage. then im gonna throw a nice tweeter in the a pillar. i just want something that has some bump to it when i dont want to play my subs.
*i have about 3-3.5 inches of depth

* somthing that plays well in an open door (no pod made or enclosure) free air if you will

*somthing that plays good on about 40 rms each woofer.

i have heard good stuff about ED 6.5s but was gonna see what u guys think. and im looking for a little cheap so no 300 doallr mids please.
The easiest way to improve the bass response when you have a speaker in a door is to put it in a box. Because doors are leaky and resonant, they vibrate along with the woofer, but out of phase. I discovered this the hard way a few years back when I put dual eights in the door of my car, and it made no bass. The bass response with a single 5" woofer was actually "punchier" and more satisfying, because the giant woofers transmitting vibrations through the door. Even a little vibration kills the bass, because the door panel is SO resonant and SO huge. Admittedly, you could treat the door, but building an enclosure for the woofer is much more effective; the door will always leak. (Unless you seal off the window LOL)

I studied the problem, and discovered the problem wasn't the speaker but the enclosure* it was sitting in.

* the door

How do you guys build an enclosure for a 6.5 speaker into a door when right behind the speaker is a glass window that has to slide passed the speaker magnet? How do you get the necessary airspace?

Definitely hard to beat, but they're deep. Didn't know these were still floating around.

The difference in 96 to 98 db is going to net you about an 22% difference in output, all things considered equal. When it comes to 325 per channel...

That was something I was going to try also to remove some of the gasjet from the front
