The easiest way to improve the bass response when you have a speaker in a door is to put it in a box. Because doors are leaky and resonant, they vibrate along with the woofer, but out of phase. I discovered this the hard way a few years back when I put dual eights in the door of my car, and it made no bass. The bass response with a single 5" woofer was actually "punchier" and more satisfying, because the giant woofers transmitting vibrations through the door. Even a little vibration kills the bass, because the door panel is SO resonant and SO huge. Admittedly, you could treat the door, but building an enclosure for the woofer is much more effective; the door will always leak. (Unless you seal off the window LOL) I studied the problem, and discovered the problem wasn't the speaker but the enclosure* it was sitting in. * the door
