The front speakers are definitely are not power house units. 45w rms. I attached a photo. The kickplate speakers are a little bigger, but still not very strong. I plan to power them from an independent amp eventually, but right now they are powered off of a factory head unit, which doesn’t help.

There isn’t a ton of room in these cars for deep aftermarket stuff - especially the kickplate speakers. It’s designed for 4x6’s.

I may go down the road of completely redesigning the speaker mounts eventually, but for now, the speakers there are decent SQ so I decided to put my money into the rear box.

Evolving the front speakers will have to wait for another day $$.

Thanks for the SI TM8 recommendation. Leaning heavily towards these after a few people have spoken highly of them.

Your problem isn't the infinite baffle. 4x6s aren't the best choice for midbass. Any decent 8" midbass driver will be fine; I wouldn't go breaking the bank.

I would just go to madisound.com and buy a set of 8 inch Silver Flutes. They cost around $50 each, so $100 for a set of them. They will out perform speakers that cost twice that.

These work as midbass...I wouldn't cross them much above 500-700 hz though

Speakers in kickpods don't usually have the greatest mid-bass. Even if they are not sealed. The air space is too small. I have found that a good set of 3-way components, in a door that has been sound deadened, works really good.

Honestly if you pull the coaxils you have upfront and do a 2 or 3 way component setup with the mids in your kicks...I think that would get you closer to what you're looking for...just .02 cents though

Most 6.5 midbass drivers can play decently down to 100hz.

I have some Morel 8" midbass I'd sell for 200.00 shipped. They played in my doors down to 60hz with ease and can play up to 2200hz.

I have some 2 way Morel crossovers too that cross over at 1800hz
