also i currently have rockford fosgate punch 5 1/4 speakers with a rockford 300 watt 4 channel amp and i do like them but i was doing research that the jbls sound much warmer and are cheaper

Both companies have their good, better, and best offerings. If it is best for best, go with RF. If it is best bang for the dollar... might have to go with the JBL Stadium series.

Across the board you should expect similar performance at similar price points with any speakers from those reputable brands. I haven't used RF components pretty much ever but I'd expect they'd perform about the same as most stuff at the same price tier. I do very much like JBL/Infinity products personally, they've always done me right and I've got JBL components in a couple vehicles here currently.
