so i go to best buy and talk to the car audio sales guy and listen to all the subs they had on display for a good 10 minutes, the power acousiks blew easy, i was like "dude let's see if we can blow that pioneer in that bandpass box, so i put on a heavy bass song and put the volume on max and used the RF 600.2 and had the punch bass on all the way to +18 db, sounded like a gapin fart on each note, i look around and everyone else is shoppin like they don't even care LOL, and that ***** *** pioneer only handled 150 rms(the blue cone one), the sub lasted 5 mintues till the smoke came out, then the Dual 12's shitted on rock basslines //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif the guy didn't care, he wanted to blow em up. no wonder best buy goes through so many subs. it was fun //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Best Buy employees blowing subs in the store is just a form of advertising, you pay out to get back. If they blow a sub that costs them $15 to buy, then go sell two of them at $100 each, they are doing alright aren't they?

If they sell it at $100 it probably costs them $65. So you're recommending a $65 loss in order to net $70 from two $100 items?

I really doubt Sony X-plods cost a massive corporation who buys thousands of speakers at a time $65. Sorry but I just don't buy it. Now your average car audio shop who sells DD, RE, etc, isn't making as big a profit off of them. And in response too seeing a sub blow up not make you want to buy it, I'm talking about powering the subs to where they bottom out eventually blows them. Not saying ppl seeing a sub going up in smoke want to buy one.

And you base this on what experience in manufacturing/distributing/retail?

A lg discount chain will typically buy at %65 of retail cost.
