welding wire

You will be fine with 2ga wire. Welding wire is fine for the Big 3 and even for the power and grounds for your amps.
What is the 2 gauge rated for do you have any idea? I just want to do this 1 time so what should I just go with forum members????????????

So I do not have to look for a strand count that high like mentioned before? The stuff on ebay has 1064 strands.

Kolossus Kable 1/0 Silver Power Wire features 5145 Tinned Strands of Pure Oxygen Free Copper.

its broken down something like this i think... the higher the strand count the lower the resistance and the easier it is for voltage to flow through the wire, thats why car audio wire has very high strand count of thin wires. IMO i would go with a wire thats meant to do what you want it to do, run a car audio setup.

i use flex o prene welding cable

flexable as the rest, and guess what, i dont have any problems with my batts or my amps or my grounds, or anything.....

its all ofc btw for what its worth

and the consensus is 1/0 or 2 gauge for 1300 rms without further amp upgrades planned ever in this car, tha'ts for big 3 and power to rear dis block to both amps? Looking at that chart it says 2 gauge is good for 50 feet at 200 amps.. If I do upgrade the alt I will just got 150-180 amp I see them on ebay for 200 or so.

One solid pc of copper wire would have less resistance than many strands of equal coverage area.

The only reason most audio wire has a high strand count is because it makes it more flexible (along with the jacket material) and people think a higher strand count makes the wire better.

Ok tested some voltage last night with the stock big 3 wiring. At both amps with it hitting pretty hard voltage never dropped under 13.6. So I think I might just go with 2 gauge for the big 3 and call it good. The car currently has 4 gauge from battery to battery and then to dis block. This was with 1 jl 1000/1 and a crunch 900/4 that is being swapped out today for a jl 300/4. After reading looks like 2 gauge can handle that load pretty easy.

exactly....i have welding wire all through my car and i have been using it for some 15+ years in car audio without any problems.

x2. i use flex-o-prene also

good shit. mine was free //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/sneaky.gif.7189749b3a3f769e8815b47e8ae87f88.gif can't beat it

hey man why dont you just buy some 1/0 from a welding shop or on here and be done with it...you just need like 6 feet for the big 3 and that only cost like 10-12 bucks....they might even have scraps that they will sell you cheaper then whole wire...

Ok I will give a few welding shops a call. You are right just do it 1/0 and forget about it... Do you think I should run 1/0 to the rear also or just stay with the 4 gauge I have?
