Welcome, my friends, to what is my biggest (literally) project yet.

How big do I think it'll be? I think it'll be an 18" cube, because that's how I already built it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Nah, I'm gonna stick with 18" Sonotube about 20" tall.
When I come home for next summer, I'm buying an 18" Ava to throw in a sonotube for our home theater

Well **** that, starting a ported tomorrow. The output just isn't there. The accuracy is just incredible though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif

That plus the **** EP1500 is drawing so much ****ing current, the lights in my room are dimming playing Dope Boy Magic //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

All you need is a cap for your room and you'll be fine.... duh... 100 farads man //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

But for real.. nice setup. I've never heard a decent home audio setup, shit.

Lets see 120 Volts rectified to DC at 10 Amps limit it would take 28 minutes to charge that capacitor to 63%.

Then what do you do with it? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Haha.. you could do that.

Or just plug the capacitor to an outlet and power the house!

That's what I would do with it. 63%, that's ~63 farads... That should run his house on full electrical for 2 weeks straight, imo.

On the topic of caps... Anyone want to buy me some of the bigarse russian ones on e-bay that are rated for 5kV for a rail gun project? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

170Volts DC should do the trick.

Haha.. you could do that.

That would be a bad thing to do. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

You are going from 170 V DC to 120 Volts AC. So when the AC has a down cycle peak voltage would be 340V. Which could blow up the capacitor and damage just about anything plugged into the wall socket. Cheap surge protectors aren't that good with DC unless it is above the clamp point.

Jesus. How much?

What is charge/discharge rate?
