weirdest problem ever! can you solve?

Hi, I have 2 amps, 1 for each sub, and when both grounds are hooked up, neither amp works. If you unhook either amp's ground cable, the other amp powers up. this is very frustrating and I don't know what the problem is. Why would having both amps grounded cause them not to work??

i would get a distrobution block, and just have one ground.

now can you connect each amp seperatly and get each to turn on or is it the same amp that turns on and the other fails to turn on?

your ground prob sucks even if you think it does not

what kind of car and exactly where is the ground?

Was going to guess that too...maybe not enough power to crank on both amps...wouldn't think just two would be an issue though. To check that just run a hot wire to both remote turn ons on the amps instead of using the one from your deck...see what happens

I'm going to guess the ground isn't actually that great....if you have a DMM check resistance from your ground point to another piece of bare metal somewhere's on the car and see if its a good ground.

I think I might have figured something out:

I have 2 runs of 4 gauge wiring, 1 to each amp.

the battery has posts on top and gm style on the side, one power wire comes from the top terminal, one power wire comes from the gm terminal. I'm wondering if maybe you can't use both, just one or the other?

Sounds like one amp is positive ground or something really messed up, although that prolly wouldn't cause it.

Recheck ALL your connections,front to back
