that wont be the problem unless there not contacting properly

take a jumper wire from the pos or the amp and run it to the remote on each amp and see if they both come on then and if they do then you will need to get a relay and wire the remotes up via a 12v relay

!!!! I have the single remote wire hooked up to both amps in parallel, does that mean each amp only gets 6 volts to the remote terminal and won't power up!?

you should be fine that way...but to test if thats what teh problem is test with the hotwire like mrwiggle suggested

Well the hotwire worked! the remote wire just didn't provide the juice. I'll just install a switch. It sure is louder with another amp. but now I've got more work to do, my battery gauge drops very low and lights dim way down. (I'm running 2.4kw on stock electical) thanks for the help!

Don't do a switch. You're going to forget to turn it off and you're going to come out to a dead battery.
