Weird sub drone.

Hey guys. So for some reason when my car turns on, the sub turns on and makes this weird drone. On top of that the sound actually matches the RPMS of my car, so it almost sounds like I have an exhaust on the car, but it's just the sub going off when it shouldn't be. As well as all this, the sub hits randomly during songs when it shouldn't hit. A few months ago the power wire going from my deck to the battery shorted out and the wires caught fire since they weren't fused even they I was told they were. After that is when the problem with the drone and random sub hits started. Any ideas? Thanks guys!

Un cross the wires and see if the hiss goes away. I am willing to bet it does.
^^^This.

Also dbl check your grounds and your RCA connections at the deck. If one of them is loose or "shorting" it could give you these issues as well.

Dose your sub make any noises when you hit the brakes or turn something els on?

Thank you el_weenie, that solved my issue :p

Yes when I hit the brakes there's a little pop noise as well as when I turn my headlights

And did you mean uncross the RCA and power cable near the amp? Or don't run the RCA near the remote start?

Sounds like when you burnt out those wires you also fried your amp and shorted some circuitry out. That may mean your subs are seeing current when they aren't supposed to. If I were you I would immediately disconnect your subs and try them on a known good (fused) amp. Yes running your RCA's next to your power can cause noise but if you started having this problem right after an electrical fire I'd say theres somethin else going on.

Alright that was my guess, I just wanted to hear it from someone who knew more about stereos than I did :p

I need to get a new amp anyways since my current one isn't too powerful anyways. Thanks for the help everyone!

im sure this is over and done with but i had that same issue with mine, in my case it was a shotty ground, i hade a spade terminal on that i thought was all nice and tight, but it wasnt making full contact or something, so when the spade fell off i used bare wire to the terminal on the amp and problem solved
