weird issue while trying to set my gains...

Ok guys, I gotta problem I can seem to figure out….

I just received a rockford fosgate 10” power hx2 (dual 2 ohm) from a member of this forum and I wired it up to a power acoustic a1800db @ 1 ohm (yes it is 1 ohm stable). My problem is that I cannot get the ac voltage that I want at the speaker terminals. I have around 12.5 volt with the car off and 14+ volts with the car running, at the terminals on the amp. I set the gain to ¾ and was only getting at most 11 ac volts with the volume up, which only equals about 120 rms.

I would like to mention I just removed a kicker zx750.1 and an eclipse 88120dvc which is rated at 500 rms and it played fine and got decently loud for what it was….i didn’t change anything except for swapping out amps and the sub….all wiring remained the same.

Can you guys give me some ideas or things to look for or check? I am a total loss on this one fellas…

Thanks

Are you using a 50hz test tone? Did you disconnect the sub from the amp and put the dmm leads into the speaker terminals?

i will use a 50 hz tone once i figure out what the deal is with the amp...i just wired everything on and turn the gain to half way and realized it should be louder...thats when i check my voltage with the sub still connected to the amp.

for some reason when i use a 50hz tone and set gains for 57.7volts 1500@2ohms its hardly nothing with the new test tone cd i burned with the old cd i burned a while back ago and used it to set gains it was loud but then i put in the new cd and its showing 93 volts so idk whats going on with setting gains with dmm it sucks

come on people....73 views and only 4 posts??? i know there are some here that are smarter than myself, that can help me figure out whats wrong with my stuff.
