Weird Ipod distortion issue pls help

I just bought an Ipod cable adapter for my Eclipse 8454. It comes out of the bottom dock of the ipod to rca outs, then i have another cable reducing the rca's to mini plug for the aux input. On rock songs, without a lot of bass, the sound is great. But on songs with a lot of bass, the distortion is horrible. It sounds like bass is going to my tweeters. All xover settings are fine, and on rock songs it sounds perfect. I tried using a head phone out cable from the ipod and the result is the same... rock is fine, heavy bass rap major distortion. Wat gives? I have wasted 6 hrs today playing around with this **** thing!

Did you check the I-Pods EQ? And make sure the enhancements are off?

The EQ is off. I also set it to flat, but with no difference.

turn the volume on your ipod down, i had a similar issue with my last setup and that helped. unless the volume is totally controlled through the HU
