Weird HELP!!!

Could to be a bad ground somewhere.. I had the same prob with my car a few months ago but my voltage was always around 4-7v. It never sat at 14v then dropped down. So I am curious to what it could be, with it dropping from 14v to 6v. Does the voltage ONLY drop at the amp hookups?? Or is it dropping like that thruout the entire car??

I would say bad ground.Just re did a local install that had the same problem.Voltage was fine with everything off.As soon as the amp would power on it would light up blue for just a sec then protect.Took a reading 7v hooked it up directly to a battery I had laying around with direct lead pos and neg amp turns on.Changed ground location and cleaned area well.No problem since!

The funny thing was the guy kept telling me it was because he hooked up the rear speakers that the amp wasn't working.Altough signal was being fed from RCA's.I just kept looking at the guy like WTF are you talking about its not possible.But I just agreed with him and said I'd get it fixed.Then chuckled to myself:laugh:

Yup called it.. So I hooked up my buddys amp and stuff with 1 12 a while back and he went to local shop and got a little box made with 2 12's.. Stupid local shop moved the ground.. Didn't scrap paint and didn't even screw it down all the way...

Was weird the Dmm still got a good reading
