Weird Engine Noise Problem... with GOOD grounds

Ok... just got a Pioneer 880PRS and I go to install it but boom.... LOUD engine noises coming from all my speakers, so I'm thinking that somehow my ground got fudged up.... I take about an hour and try 4 different grounds and get NO success.

I go and install my Panasonic HU (which happens to be for sale) and then get NO engine noise.

Is this likely to be the wiring harness or the HU itself?? The only thing visibly wrong with the harness is that the yellow battery lead has a fuse box and the wire was cut real close to it, but even so I made the connection tight just to be sure nothing would happen to it.

It's a Pioneer. They are notorious for having RCA ground isolation issues. Ground the barrel of the RCAs at the hu and see if that helps.

You can also try running a ground from the head unit back to the same ground as the 4 channel amp.

can you just break that down once more? thanks

also.. the ground I had been using was a wire run straight to the battery... the ground is 100% legit

It doesnt matter that its running to the battery, unless your amps are grounded strait to the battery you can still have a ground loop. But what the other guy was talking about, and I have seen this work personally, is you wrap a wire around the outside of the metal RCA barrel at the deck and ground the other end of it to the deck chassis

all channels on the headunit only. 14 guage is overkill but if thats what you have available it will work.

yea head unit only but when you say channels you are saying that for 4 rca cables i will have four runs correct?
