Weird distorsion in only one channel only when sub is plugged in???

Hey,

I've finished setting up my new system however i've got one problem

When i connect my bridged sub (on channel 1 & 2), channel 4 starts to make a weird noise as if theres sand on the speaker cone? I have 2 6"by9" 300watt pioneers attached to channel 3 and 4 and even if i swap them over, it still only occurs on channel 4.

When i disconnect the sub, all works fine!

I've never had the system up loud and the gains are all set very low as i have only set it up today. The sound occurs whether its set on a high or low pass filters or no filter.

Any ideas what the problem could be??

Cheers,

Jules

A) bad ground

B) More likely, bad amp.

Have you tried moving the sub to channel 3-4 bridged and run your speakers on 1 & 2? It's also possible you are wiring the bridge incorrectly on the amp or not flipping the mono switch on the sub channels?

No, i haven't tried moving to other channels, it got dark outside before i had a chance.

I'm pretty sure the bridge is fitted correctly and there is no mono switch!

Thanks for the suggestions, i'll give the swap over a go tomorrow and see what happens tho... i hope i dont have to take the amp back...

Cheers!

I tried swapping over the sub to channels 3+4 and speakers to 1 + 2 but this time it was channel 1 that was causing the problem.

I also checked all the ground points and they all look fine.

Any other ideas that i could try out?

Thanks heaps for looking...

Cheers

ok, so if there no more ideas, how about ways to get around it?

I was thinking that i could bridge BOTH 6*9" speakers over channel 1 and 2, when i tried this, the funny sound went away but is this ok? will twice as much power still go to the sub as either one of the smaller speakers? or will each of the smaller speakers get the same as the sub(assuming all gains etc are set the same). Also, would it be putting too much strain on the amp?

Hope someone can help!

Cheers
