should i keep the wires from the HU connected? pro's vs. cons?

also, im hooking up a 2 channel amp, would it be fine just having two wires running from each channel + and - and run them to each speaker, or should i do things differently??

i have my sub power wire hooked into a switch that turns the power on/off, i was hoping to do the same for the inside speaker amp, so i kinda wanted to keep the HU wires connected so that when i turn off the amp it still is playing, just not as loud, is this a bad idea??...........would my speakers gain from my amp watts and HU watts??

If you aren't running high end speakers or a lot of watts, then you can just run speaker wire with your rca's and then hook the new speaker wire up to your existing speaker wire rather than running new wire, but really it's up to you. Don't run wire from the amps to the speakers though and keep the existing speaker wire connected lol.d

why would that be bad??

i have boston acoustic speakers.. they were like 300$ a pair

I don't know but I'm pretty sure that when you hook up the rca's then the hu stops outputting through the wiring harness, but i don't know never tried it. And if it doesn't something tells me it would sound retarded. If you really want to I would find a switch that would go between 2 inputs to one output like this:

-EDIT- Sorry about the font..

well im lost.. in general, do u thinking doing what i wanted to do will damage my speakers??

yes or no //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Nah, if you hook it up to the switch it will just go between being amped and not amped, but I don't see why you don't just amp it and turn it down if you don't want it to be loud.... why would you want it unamped?

IGNORE EVERYTHING HE SAID. I have the RCAs hooked up to my 2 ch. amp right now, but I'm still running the speakers off the HU power (I'm too lazy to pull my door panels off and put the new speakers in //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif)

I just said I didn't know if it would output out of both, but you don't have your amp and the hu hooked up to the speakers;) never said it wouldn't work just that i didn't know

Wow....

Put the remote for the sub amp on a simple toggle switch, not the power. That way you can kill the sub. If you want the speakers quieter, TURN DOWN THE FVCKING VOLUME.

that is actually what i meant by power wire.. sorry for the confusion..

and a main reason why i wanted a switch to turn off the amp is so when i see cops, i can just hit the switch, saved my *** a couple times with my sub switch.
