No, this isn't another 13W7 vs. IDMAX:)

I'm wanting to get 2 subs for the back of my Camaro, and since weight is an issue, I'm looking at doing maybe 2 8W7's or 2 12" IDQ's or IDv.3's. Reason I'm doing 12's with the ID's is because I know those subs don't weigh much at all. I'll have a 1cu.ft sealed box made for whatever sub I choose to go with, and its going to be powered by a Memphis 1000D at 1ohm with the ID's, or 1.5ohm for the JL's. I listen to mainly exremley heavy metal as loud as I possibly can for extended periods of time (being cautious of course). The girlfriend mainly listens to alot of R&B and hip hop, so I'm going to need something that'll keep up with that as well, and I mean really keep up! If weight weren't an issue, I'd do 2 12" IDMAX's and call it a day, but unfortunately it is an issue I need to deal with. So, anyone wanna suggest something or maybe think which route is the best way to go for me?

Thanks guys:peace:

whats with the weight issue, if you are trying to save a couple pounds for racing then maybe car audio shouldn't be an issue. id upgrade the stock stereo and amp it and see how you like it. if you decide you can give up a few pounds then a substage might be in order. even if you get something small you would still gain about 30 pounds. mine weighs somewhere around 200 pounds. plus 150 pounds of sound deadener. a good substage doesn't have to weigh that much though. someone on another form of mine has two 8s glassed into his doors and is hitting min 130s on a TL. This creates very little enclosure weight and the 8W7 weighs a little bit more than your typical 8 but you will notice the difference in output. go to automotiveforums.com , go to general automotive, then car audio. talk to pauld. he is a moderator and he can help you with glassing your door panels. even if the weigh is more than you would like, it will add it to the front of the car which might help the drive.

2 12's vs 8's isnt really all that fair. The 8w7 will move about the most air for an 8, but it wont even come close the the output of 2 12's. The IDQs will sound awesome also. JMHO

Well I really didn't say anything about racing my car, and I've done way way more then upgrade the factory radio, that didn't even stay in the car a month after I got it in '96! Anyway, yea I was leaning towards the IDQ's, but will the 2 12's handle 1K watts? Of course watching my gains and my listening habits. Oh what a decision this is.....
