Hi everyone!
Looking forward to doing this new build but it has been years since I have done an audio system, and I have never done anything weatherproof so I need some assistance because I have no knowledge on marine/weatherproof audio.
I am doing a new system (or adding rather) to a '88 Mercedes 3 Door G-Class. I have budgeted $1200 for the initial build including wiring and installation. Now I know this will not get me everything at first but it will get me started and I can plan it all out. I know that marine audio is usually built to be project clearly further distances due to being outdoor, playing over a roaring motor, and for people being pulled behind boats, etc. Since this will be in a vehicle it obviously does not need to produce that same result so I do not need the loudest/best/etc.
Priority: [1]Speakers, [2]Subwoofer, [3]Headunit. I can use the current headunit for now which I expect to do due to my budget.
Now I am considering 2 different setups but will let you experts help me with my direction.
Setup 1: 2 Front, 1 10" Sub, and a Soundbar facing forward, mounted hanging from the rear soft top crossmember. This would be handy for tailgating, camping, etc. where I could rotate the Soundbar to face firing backwards.
Setup 2: 2 Front, 2 Rear under/next to bench seats in pods, 1 10" sub
