Weak sub controls on cda-9815?

I have heard that the alpine cda-9815 has unusually weak sub controls, I was just wondering if anyone else had problems with it, or if that was just in a few cases?

I heard one person stating that they had to turn the sub up to 15 of 15 in order to have the desired amount of bass, or something like that?

Does that person know how to properly set gains on an amp? Did he/she have everything else tuned properly? Did he/she have a decent box and sufficient power for the driver(s)? Were the drivers wired properly, and were they in phase?

I havent heard of someone complain about the sub controls on any Alpine unit. Assuming the above is correct.

I'll try and find out, I mean I couldn't imagine why their top of the line units would be like that, so I assume it would be safe to go ahead and get it, and not worry that the sub controls are weal...ebay here I come

my cda 9813 has great sub control. At about 6 on the subs output it gets really loud.

Keep in mind Alpine's subwoofer controller is really an attenuator. At +15, it is at 0dB attenuation. At +14, It's at -1dB, and so on until you get to 0, which is -15dB.

It all depends on where you have the SUB-W control set when you set your gain on your subwoofer amplifier. If you have the Sub-W control set at 0 then set your gain, you will have major clipping issues if you run it at +15. OTOH, If you set your gain with the setting at +15, then running it at under +15 will obviously decrease the amount of bass you are getting.

I have a 9815 and I can drive my amplifier into clipping with the preouts on the head unit. This "Alpine has weak preouts" crap is just that, crap.
