Was the installer right?

I have 4 mb quart 5x7 in my mustang. They are bing run by a soundstream lil wonder. Who ever hooked it up has it so the fader option in my Alpine does not work. He says the lil wonder is underpowering those speakers and they would sound better being powered off my Alpine deck. Is he full of it?

I dont remember much about that amp, although I think it's 60x4 at 4ohm? I might be wrong

Irregardless, you can almost bet your bottom dollar it puts out more than 22x4 like your HU does...

Your fader doesn't work because it is either a 2ch amp, or a 4 channel amp in which he bridge and is running 2 speakers per channel.

There were two versions of the Lil Wonder. A 2 channel and a 4 channel. If it's a 2 channel, then the fader won't work. It is possible that it is the 4 channel and the installer hooked up using only one set of inputs which would allow all 4 channels to work but would again keep the fader from working.

Either way, the amp makes more power than the HU. It also will have next to no distortion compared to the HU amp. HU amps ****. The amp you have is kinda old but it's still a pretty good amp. Low on power compared to many of the newer amps out there but still light years ahead of HU power and should be more than capable of getting your speakers plenty loud.

I don't tihink I'd listen to much more that that installer had to say.
