Wanting to run active but confused...

I used an Alpine MRV-F545 to run some Pioneer Premier TS-C720s actively and they sounded great... just kept the gains down on the tweeters. The only downside is, from what I understand, the amp is not bridgeable on all 4 channels (just on the front 2), so my plan to potentially run my next set of mids bridged and get a 2 channel for the tweeters is out. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

Troydb you can also attenuate each driver/pair of drivers from the HU as well. For example I can lower the level on each individual speaker or pair of speakers (L mid, R mid, L tweet, R tweet, L sub, R sub, or both mids, both tweets, both subs) all the way to -15.

Which headunit? The Pioneer 880?

Yet another reason why I need that headunit. I know what I am buying next //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

Please help me understand...

i seem to be confused. i want to run active. i know what it is, basically.

my idea:

HU back to an EQ, then to an active x-over, 4ch amp, speakers.

problem: my HU has 3 oututs (front/rear/sub) and the EQ i'm looking at has 1 input, and 1 output (earthquake eq-3200). then the x-over i'm looking at has 3 input and 3 outputs (coustik xm-6). how th F do i set something like that up?

Which brings up this question //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
Let's say you wanna run active. If you have an amp that will do 150x4, which would be a nice amount of power for the mids, but it seems like it would be total over kill on the tweeters. For example, if you are setting the gains on the amp with the headunit at 75% then even with the gain to the tweeters at zero you are still sending a shit ton of power to them.

I really want to get a 4 channel amp and run active, but I am worried that if I get something that has enough power for my mids that it might be overpowering to the tweeters. Any thoughts?
I've got a cadence amp doing basically 100x4. I have an 8053 which has pretty high rca voltage...I have my tweeter gain turned all the way down, and the mid's gain about 1/4 the way, and I have no issues with the tweets getting too much power.

You either need a different crossover, or it has a way to setup for single input.. read the manual //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

found the manual. says it can accept 2/4/or6ch inputs, so thats all good.

one more question. won't this make my rear/sub outs of my HU not needed?

i know alot of you guys said ditch the rear fill..... but i have a 4 door explorer and like to give people the full sound experience ...

i want to do active... so i use one channel of my mb quart 4200(or watever the 4 chanel model is) per speaker it would be fine if i doubled up for the rear? so each channel actually has 2 speakers?the amp has plenty of power

So you'll power the rears off the midbass output from the HU? That'd be fine, or you can just run them off the headunit, the issue with running them from the amp is the front stage will be pulled back.
