Wanting to build onto a 12 inch older Boston Acoustics..

Have had a Boston Acoustics 12.5LF motor and basket just chilling around ever since I burnt it out.

Just took off the softparts today, and here is what it has.

I was wondering if it would be okay to take off the basket, would it mess up any sort of alignment?

Is that even worth reconing? Pretty tight gap there too.

It was very accurate and worked great in small boxes. It was a great sub, but I mainly want to recone just because I want some experience in doing so.
