wall questions....

hello all.

i wana make a wall. possibly a temp wall to start with,

that is actually a box, but with small trim pannels to complete the wall.

I drive a vette. its a crap box. its ok - I deal

have been driving around with out my rear view mirror for a week.

I think I can hack it.

my sub is 18" re sx. wants 8.0 cubes net.

port recomendation is 35 hz.

I might wana tune my wall port in the 38 to 40 range tho.

id like to do hair tricks, and be stupid loud.

im already silly loud with my 5.4 cube net ported box, sub up rear port at glass

but the port and sub firing directly up at my hatch glass is causing quite a rukus

back there, and I cant seem to shut that shit up. ( the glass and rear latch are rattling a ton )

so sub facing foward to cabbin - and port also = best idea to me = wall.

if sub is dead center - I woud want 2 ports. maby by each head rest of the seats. wana be loud as f. how large should the slot ports be ?

like 4" by 8" each one - and how deep is obviously determined by cubic area inside the box right ??? to give certan hz tuning ......

any one who has actually made a wall in their rides , please chime in.

lmk how you used certan mathmatical formulas to calculate port

and tuning, as im a little lost. mostly cause im going to build box inside of the car - and realley dont know exactly how many cubes im going to end up with.

altho im hoping for 8.0 net. after ports and sub disp.

my sub sound good on 5.4 cubes net, but it seems like it would realley shine

in a much larger box I think.

any how, chime in.

lmk how you guys think I should start to calculate this stuff.

id like to start collecting materials for it.

any recomendations on port opening size for dual ports - one on each side of the sub ?

kinda tall up in the box /wall like right above head rests ?

5 to 8" tall by how wide ?

I 'd try to get between 80-100 sq. in for that size box and sub. Maybe two 4x12 or two 8" PVC ports. The port calculator link i listed, will give you lengths for them based on the tuning frequency you choose.
