No, the Solo X has NOT won any SQ comps dude. As far as I know all the cars running the Solo X's that compete in SQ used L7s for SQ judging, and only used the Solo X's for the SPL portion...not to say they don't sound good, just correcting you.

The W7 has lower distortion and more LINEAR output ability than the Solo X. For music I'd definitely take the W7.

as for SQ vs SPL - the solox will almost definatly be louder than the w7. reason being? the solox (assuming a 15") will be a true 15" sub, but also its square, so it has an assload of cone area. the w7 is only a "13"" sub, and is round. so has ALOT less cone area. the w7 is NOT a SPL sub, and the X is - the soloX can take like 5kw, and the w7 will not like 2kw. soloX can be in LARGE high tuned ported boxes, and i would seriously not recommend that for the w7.

but if done right, the solox can seriously sound just as good as the w7 (talk to polecat, they have won SQ titles man)

They are only available in 10,12 and 18...and will need some power. Anyways, like Warbleed said; AFAIK they have not won any SQ championships in which they were actually used for the SQ judging portion of the competition. Garry Biggs used one, but he had an L7 in the dash for SQ judging and only used the SoloX 18 for the SPL judging portion

just to shed some light on this...in the day when Gary had the two Solo X 18's in his car, I was there when he did this, so...

IN SQ, there are several judging points taken off several different aspects. There is listening, staging, etc,etc...the Solo X 18's were used, for points in SPL...same test ever other car has to complete for points, which adds to total points. Gary had highest SPL in that class if I remember correctly(been awhile). So those points were added, for the total points for Pro class.So they were indeed used for points to win the SQ comp, just not in listening test. The front stage, a L710" in the dash was. But so both parties are correct actually...Solo X's added points (highest SPL) for award, but not on listening for staging.
