how close or how far does the back of the enclosure to the bottom of the sub have to be. can the bottom of the magnet be 1/2" from mdf?

good rule of thumb is at least the width of the pole vent

i dont think it makes that much of a difference, but for precaution sake make a bit more distance...and judging by what u said i get the feeling that the box u made is pretty wide so make sure that u reinforce the rear and front side(baffel or whatever u call it)

yes sir. thanks for your fast reply. the interennal hieght is 6.5" and the sub's mounting depth is 8". triple baffle will give me 8.75" that will work right?
