w7 and 1000/1 problem

originally they were wired for .75 per sub (thinking that impedance rise would get it above 1 ohm) but was informed that that was wrong and they need to be wired to 3 ohms per sub. thing is, we listened to them after we rewired them and could tell that they were still playing, only not as loud bc they are at 3ohms vs .75
why didn't you just check to see if you were getting 1 ohm with box rise?

you would probably be at 1 ohm or higher I would imagine with rise...

hmm RIPS should've prevented that..but then again the 1000/1 is made for 1.5 -4 ohms, so if they were playing again after you rewired them when did you arc them on your arm?

we werent beating hard on them at .75 so thats why it didnt shut down. arc'd my arm after the impedance switch

ahh... I really don't know jl amps...

I do know I think there are more controls on it than necessary, for a lot of the people who buy it. most people just jump on the bandwagon...

as far as things are concerned though with variables affecting it... it is possible to see close to 1.5 ohms with rise...

I have a buddy who we set his stuff to .5 ohms and with rise we saw 1.1...

so it all depends...

also what's the JL's efficiency rating? I have heard in low to mid 60's which is bad news for a class d....
