i was just wondering if the W6's can take more then 500 watts, im currently running two of them at 2 ohms with about 522 watts each. If i wire them down to 1 ohm, my amp can put out around 650-700 watts, im not planning on doing this, i was just wondering if they can take the power.

probably unnoticable. double the power only gives you +3 db so maybe .5 - 1 db if ur lucky

Sort of. 3 decibels is 2x the pressure, however it's NOT twice as loud. Ears don't hear linearly, which is part why we use bels as a measurement the first place. Experimentally, it's been shown that a10db increase usually sounds 2x as loud, however, that's only true at a moderate level. As sounds get louder, it takes even more to be perceived as 2x as loud. Anway, you can barely percieve a 1 decibel increase, odds are you'll just push your amp a bit harder for no real benefit. However, if you really need it louder it won't hurt as long as your careful. Well, I guess that depends on the size of your box too. They can probably handle 700 thermally, just don't let them get too loose.

My friend has a JBL 1000 on his W6's sealed and they are doing fine, I think the JBL 1000 does a little more than 1000watts too. So I am sure you'd be fine with a little over 500...
