Voltage step down?

provided your car is 24/12 volts with the vehicles electricals, other than that, if it is 12v, then you don't need mate.

The battery is supposed to be used above 14.2v so would I still be okay to run a regulator on my alternator and run 14.8 volts? Thank you for the help in advance.

Yeah, put the probes on the power wire and ground wire of the amplifier. Multimeter on DC. Do not put it on the wires that go to your speakers. M

The AudioControl LC7i has a maximum output voltage of up to 8.5volts. It can output up to 8.5 volts which is more than a typical aftermarket head...
