Let's say the voltage regulator is going bad... Would exceeding the max rpm cause this?

Voltage regulator being bad would give random voltages or the alternator will not charge at all.

Well it definitely charges just fine... I'm pretty sure it was just doing what the ecu was telling it to do

15.2V is pretty hard on a battery.

I ran my XS D3100 on 15.2v. It's still being used by a local friend of mine/

With the new battery bank, I now charge at about 14.8

last voltage regulator I saw go bad the alt would crank out 16.2 when more load than just the stereo was running. Turn on the blnikers and voltage went to 16.5. replace the regulator and no more problems.

Pretty much the exact thing twisted sounds was telling me..
