Voltage drops??

I have an optima yellow top under the hood just a 1 farad cap in back. Im running MTX 9500 with an 81001 (check sig). Anyway, my problem is that when the car is running it will rest at 13.8, when i am playing music it will go no higher than that. And i drop to 11.6

What can i do to get at least 14.1 volts? Thanks

get rid of the cap invest in an alternator.

wont be to easy to stay over 14 volts constant

okay, but i drop soo bad. Will the cap help actually? Will i have dimming or anything? Where can i purchase a ho alternator for a Mazda 6 ??

im running 2 batt's.

i sit at 13.9-14.1

when i play it sitting, i drop to about 11.6

if im driving about 12.5

sucks. and they dont make allot of " trust worthy" alt's for my car. so im kinda stuck till i find a go HO alt. if i can afford one.

Well, i just took off the cap, and it still sits at the same voltages as before. 13.8 and drops to 11's. So should i get 0 gauge and get a battery in back? Or just go with a hoa?

Do everything you can to get better voltage(within your budget). I had the same issues as you. I was running a Sundown 1500D at .5ohm with a stock battery and alt in a dodge truck...and I'd drop to about 11V doing test tones at full volume. Here's what I did:

1) Put a Kinetik HC2000 up front...+.6V

2) Put a Batcap 2000 in the back...+.5V

3) Upgraded my Big 3 from 4 gauge to 0 gauge...+.4V

3) Added some aluminum buss bars for my front battery...+.3V

Now I never drop below 12.8V when doing burps at full volume(even with a lot of clipping).

I have an optima yellow up front, but i may consider putting either a Kinetik HC600 or HC800 in the back. Which should i go with? How much more beneficial is the 800 from the 600?

You'd need to go with HC1400-2000 to see any beneficial difference I think.

The only true answer is an HO alternator, though. You can also check out Excessive Amperage. And an HC1400 or 2000 is a good portion towards that HO.

Alright, ill give ohio generator tomorrow and get a quote, if they even make one for my car. :/

I can guarantee you Ohio will be one of the most expensive. But one of the more reliable, so I read.

Do the big3, bring 0 gauge to the back batt and take it from there.

Again, its only 1000 watts.
