Want some Come get some
installation complete. system sounds great. i think theres a problem. I installed an 200amp ho alt, an diehard bat in front &kinetik hc2000 bat in the rear. big3 is done entire big3 & system ran with 1/0 awg but when i pumpit voltage drops to 11.9 from 14.4. voltage drop even when mono amp is off and i pump just vocals i still get voltage drop to 11.9 is this normal???

also my lights dont dim.

its the exact setup in my signature(amp &etc)

the alt didnt come with idle specs im waiting on customer service to get back to me on that

this is happening with it running.

so this is normal??

at what volt should i start worrying???

thx

Well I really dont know why it would be doing it. The amp that you have is rated 1ohm if I'm not mistaken, and it's Kole Audio's most powerful amp. Kole Audio uses the same boards that Power Acoustik does, not sure the relation to companies but I'm positive it's the same boards. At 11.9 you're probably not going to hurt the amp, although you're getting close to doing so

I cant help ya much other than by saying that amp is not very efficient, it's the only thing I can think of right now, although with an upgraded battery up front and a kinetik in the trunk, plus the alt there's no way in hell you should drop that low

Someone who knows more about this shit around to help the guy?

thats the thing i didnt upgrade the front bat yet. it still has the die hard in the front and the kenetik in the rear. ill be gettin the bat in the front replaced next week. could that be the problem???

Try this out to narrow down your issue.

At idle bump your stereo and record your voltage lvl.

Now idle your vehicle up around 1500-2000 rpm. Record your voltage again.

If at idle you have voltage drop, but not at 1500-2000 rpm you should either invest in a smaller pully for your alternator and or another battery for the system.

If you still have a large drop at the 1500-2000 mark you may either have a problem somewhere in teh system like your ground or maybe even the voltage regulator on teh alternator itself.

I don't know if this will hurt your voltage all that much but are you running the subs and TVs all at 1 time???? Do you have the same problem when you are not idling?? i would say its the inefficiency of they amp thou. you should try a Kicker KX or ZX 2500 way more efficient then KOLE. Try to get a Red top under the hood they are great for car video you know for ya head rest or whatever!!! Oh and check all you connections make sure they are clean especially the grounds
