voltage dropping to 11.9???

did u check the voltage on each battery alone? if all the connections are good and the batteries are good id chech the regulator on the alt..

you know what i remember my boy was helping me and im just remembering he told me he couldnt find where to chg the chassis to eng blk ground location on the 96 yukon and i figured i would do it later. dumb me. could this be the problem or most likely not?

Sounds like you are to the point where the altermator shuts down doe to too low of an idle speed. I have ran into this myself on my vehicle.

My truck idles at 550 rpm so I had to get my alt made to charge that low. You may want to look into a smaller pully in the mean time to help you out.

Where did you buy your alternator from? See if they have a smaller pully.
