I tested my battery with my truck off and it rests around but often below 12 volts, when the bass hits with my truck running the voltage at my amp drops to 8-9 volts, so it seems I need a new battery, am I correct?

I wouldn't say so just yet. Check your grounds at your amp. What's the voltage like up front when you are dipping that low in back?

I checked the ground yesterday and it's fine, even with the truck off a 12v battery should still be over 12v with the truck off it's around 11.4

Give it a 2A trickle charge overnight

Yea I thought I'd charge it some too, but if it has a dead cell it'll fall off again and I'll know it's the problem

Ok, what amp is this? Do you have stock alternator and battery? Resting at 11.4 isn't good, but dropping to 8-9V while running is a whole different story. I'm surprised you haven't toasted that amp tbh. What size wiring are you running? Need a bit more info here. It's possible you are simply drawing too much for your electrical. In the meantime charge the battery and see if it will hold a charge. Did this just start happening and it was fine before, or is this a new install?

Audiopipe AP10001D, stock batt and alt, before I just had a Fusion 500 watt amp with 6 gauge wiring, now I have the Audiopipe 1000 watt amp running at 1 ohm with 0 gauge wiring. Before with the 500 watt amp it was fine, no problems but of course 500 watts doesn't demand much.

go to one of you local chain auto parts stores and get a free battery and alternator check
