crank your system. and put the volt meter on the amps power and ground terminals.

if it goes down your getting drop.

DC volts. It's just the same as measuring the voltage of a batt. You're just going to watch it while it's playing. That's all.

I think I need to change my batt. thats under tha hood. I just tested it and its going from 12.8 to 11.5

well if it was at 12.8 before playing music than you might want to check your alt. on a 12volt system it should read 14.4 while vehicle is running

Put the meter on minimum responding (if equipped)... that will tell you the min voltage you got without having to constantly watch the meter...

Buy a stinger volt meter for $20 and watch your voltage from the driver’s seat. I like to know my voltage at all times.

That’s great and all but I would be more concerned about what my voltage is under load.
