Voltage drop in 99blazer

That spot is more substantial than most places on the body. On a blazer forum they say it ties into the frame from that point but without getting under my truck I can't confirm that. I had my amp grounded there and didn't have a problem. Only reason why I moved it was because I made a substantial upgrade to my electrical and needed the best connection possible.
Ok thanks for the input that would be a simple change for me as my ground location is right by the center bolt of the rear seat. One more thing with me doing the big 3 fixing my ground point but keeping stock alt and battery can i expect my voltage drop to stop? Or just have a higher average voltage

With the power you are running expect to have a small dip in voltage on steady bass tones. With 800 watts you shouldn't have to worry about upgrading your alt. getting a better battery(agm) would be a good idea and a lot cheaper.

With the big 3, better ground and upgraded battery up front you will probably still have some voltage drop but not as bad. The factory alt on the 4.3 is only 100amps (they usually test around 70amps after they are warm and that's at higher rpms) They absolutely **** at idle. I would find a 140amp alt from local junkyard that came off of a 4.8, 5.3, 6.0, 6.6 duramax or just buy a new ad244 alt from local parts store. They are usually like $100-$150 new or $30-$40 used. Then you will have no voltage drop. Its a direct bolt on upgrade and you can even find ones that have the same 4 pin plug. Only thing you have to buy is a slightly longer serpentine belt.

Yes at idle the fukin thing *****. And the kicker is wired at 1 ohms so im guessing a little more than the 800

I believe the center bolts for the rear seat would be the best ground without going to the frame. Body ground on a body on frame vehicle usually isn't all that great
which if you use the seat bolt, still using the body as the ground which depends on the bolts through the frame and a few "dedicated" ground straps..

with the seat bolts make sure that you are still sanding down to bare metal and no brackets or carpet in between. If the bolt leads to the outside some factory bolts will have a thread sealer to prevent the moisture from entering the vehicle. that is typically why its not recomended to use those bolts. As for the voltage drop with the stock battery I doubt anyone could give you a real figure, maybe guesses but it all depends on the condition of the batt which sounds like its not doing great as is.

You are right, i tried telling him to go to the frame and he wanted no part of that. I had decent luck with that spot that's why I brought it up. I have since gone directly to the frame when I upgraded. But I also started with a big 3 and upgraded the ground strap under my hood with 2 runs of 1/0 and the ground strap by my filler neck.

yea,I use that spot also..along with the big 3/4..and extra grounds from frame to body...

imo best thing for op is like dub7 said change regular battery to agm style first..going to kill stock one before long anyways..

Thats not a whole lot of power, are you producing a clean unclipped signal? clipping could be bringing down your voltage big time if its not more than a soft clip on transients and youre sending square waves ha

Its not that much power but im pretty sure its not clipping
