Very weird dual amp problem that just came up

Have had the system in the sig running for a while and lately when I turn it up and it begins to hit sort of hard, but not at all full volume, the 4channel amp cuts out but the sub still plays, then I turn it down and the speakers play again.

I didnt make any drastic changes or anything. I am running a dual battery system 1/0 from front to back and 1/0 from back batt to dblock. and then 4 gauge from dblock to both amps.

What could it be?

Is this while driving the car or when its off? Your alty could be going out and your experiencing serious voltage drops. Do your lights dim?

Your mids/highs amp could be overheating also...

i would bet is going into protect from badly set gains or overheating

that viper doesnt put out a ton of power so you might be asking it to do more than it can.

i would set your gains acording to the sticky if you havent already done so.

and if that doesnt help next time the viper shuts down feel the case of the amp, if it is extremely hot it might be overheating.

i would just check your gains and go from there.

my amp did that b4, there were a cpl things wrong.

the rca cable from my HU to my amp had a bad ground inside the end terminal where it plugged into my amp. i unscrewed the cap to find this, fixed it and that was that. the groud was causing my amp to either ground out or overheat and force it into protect mode for afew quick seconds. as i turned down the volume it remedied this.

just check all your wiring.

none of those could be it because i didnt change anything on the viper. it has been set like that for over a year, nothing was touched. the only thing that was touched was teh gaines on the sub amp, the lanzar.

so none of it makes sense at all
