My wife bought me 3 sundown Xv3 dual 2 ohm subs. This is my first time owning a set of higher end subs. What gauge wire would be best to wire up the subs in the box? And I have an audio control LCI2 Pro and was also considering purchasing an equalizer or the audio control epicenter to get them really fine tuned. That being said as you know with the LCI I have to run them on stock radio (2015 Chevy impala ltz). I’m also planning on getting a 400 amp alternator to push those big boys. I also purchased a CVPRO5k mono block amp to push these. Can someone guide me in the right direction so I can have these installed perfectly to sound really good?

That amp puts out :
  • 3300WX1@2Ω
  • 1900WX1@4Ω
You have 3 dual 2ohm subs and the amp is not 1 ohm stable which means the you have 1 wiring options as follows:

That should give you about 2500 watts for three subs that can handle 6000. I would advise exchanging both and starting over. The subs are competition LOUD overkill that you'll never utilize the potential of, so, maybe exchange them for something that can handle 1000-1500 watts apiece, x3, still a LOT of power.

- OR -

If you're set on keeping the three subs, return that amp ($399 ?) and get something get an amp that is 1 ohm stable like this ($319):

It's a real 5K amp.

You can them wire the 3 subs like this:

And with it wired to 1.3ohms, that amp will push 4500+ watts to the three sundowns, might blow your windows out too, but hey, that's what insurance is for, right?

Check with these guys on the alternator.

Fill out the form and they will get you a quote on several options that may work for you. I'm thinking a 340A with a lithium bank in the rear should be more than adequate.

You got a lot to consider. Sub enclosure, wiring kits, cable runs, 2nd battery, big 3 upgrade. Do you have a budget in mind? What are you going to put up front (or front and back) to keep up with those monsters in the rear?

Deff get your Electrical up to handle the Supply for the demand,.. 2/0,0ga and some battery bank with that Alt.Well Tuned Enclosure.
Are you building the enclosure INSIDE the vehicle trunk Space? Im curious of how the enclosure is going to go in that vehicle.
Id prob. run a pair and sale off one and utilize those funds towards the electrical needs and get a well tuned enclosure for the pair, thats me though

I’m just going to run two of them and put the third one in my work car. I don’t want to sell it just the simple fact that she went out her way to get me something I have been talking about for awhile

Good to know. Running 2 of them you will want to wire them as follows:

That will give you a 2 ohm load and allow to utilize the 3300 watt amplifier. Sundown recomends a 2.5cubic ft box, tuned to 32 hz.

9512 lol If you're in that realm of woofers, there's quite a good selection outside of those 2, but DD is a very good pick IMO.
