Unsual Problem: Brake Light Flickers

i need to do something about this because last night i got pulled over for it. i told the officer the truth and he told me to just keep my music down. but i need my music.

here is a video i shot of it. when the bass hits higher, louder notes it flickers

how can i fix it?

got to be some wire somewhere touching. most likely its right at the light or in it. take the light off and secure the connections,and put some insulation or seperators between each wire and connection so they can touch, and problem shall be solved

i love the deck. i could of got this years model but there is no color and this has a much better eq in it. this year i think is 7 band and this one i have is 16. i am using that ipod right now because cd's skip. my friend has this deck with one type R 15'' @ 30hz and his is fine. this morning i was listening to some tones and my ipod shut off and i needed to reset it. so i am going to have to rap it in like a shirt or something.

you can get this deck with the ipod adapter on ebay for pretty cheap now. if i had to get another deck i'd for sure get this one.

take the light out and check the wires as everyone has said... should be an easy fix... and i agree ricers would pay for that... its easy to create tho... i know a few who have hooked lights up to amps just to get the effect... retarded but they do all sorts of retarded shit....

i have the same problem... mine is actually caused from the bass moving the brake pedal... i've seen other people with the same issue... matrxx dude's explorer does it like crazy when he burps...

only way i can think to fix it is to tighten up your pedals (is that even possible?)...

I had a similar problem with my dome lights, and it turned out to be the flexing had rubbed the wires bare, and they were shorting out, and would turn all the inside lights on.

lol it prolly is the brake peddle cuz that thing sure shakes. i wouldnt mind it if i could atleast drive around with my system turned up.

is it all the break lights or just the third one? if it was all i would agree that it's the break pedal. but if it's only the one light then i would move your ground.

Well I would assume that since his third brake light is LED, than it has a faster reaction time than the standard brake bulbs. if the pedal moved just enough, it could trigger the third brake light without triggering the other lights.

If it's the pedal that's an easy fix. There's a plastic plunger that makes contact with the pedal when you press it down. It has a ratcheting mechanism to hold it in place, so just slide it down so the pedal can't bounce against it and trigger your brake lights.

Or on some cars it's the opposite and makes contact until you press down the brake pedal, then you'd want to move it closer to the pedal so it doesn't lose contact from bouncing.
